Magnetic molecules and atoms studied by scanning probe microscope experiments and molecular transistors represent ideal systems to address the very foundations of the quantum theory of magnetism. The proposed workshop will gather both physicists and chemists to question what electronic structure theory to use for such systems. Hence, the most recent developments in ab-initio methods will be presented with a special focus on those that could describe correlation effects, excitations and complex structural details on equal footing.

La novena edición del Congreso Europeo sobre Eficiencia Energética y Sostenibilidad en Arquitectura y Urbanismo (EESAP 9) y el segundo Congreso Internacional de Construcción Avanzada (CICA 2), abordan el tema de los Smart Communities, teniendo en cuenta la necesidad de incorporar la escala humana y su ámbito cercano como variable imprescindible para una gestión inteligente de las ciudades, en una sociedad que tiene por meta alcanzar los mayores grados de calidad de vida para todos.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss predictive coding and its underlying mechanisms from behavior to neuroscience. We aim at calling together researchers and students from various domains such as vision, audition and language, to build bridges between various research fields and share this common and exciting interest on prediction. For example, the meeting will provide language researchers (working on prediction) with the more important perspectives coming from other scientific fields of research (vision, auditory perception, decision making, attention, etc).

The workshop Quantum Designer Physics will highlight recent advances in material systems purposefully designed for studying some of the most intriguing physical phenomena at the nanoscale. Very broadly these phenomena are related to spin, topology, and coherence, which enable the materials display quantum functionalities. Condensed Matter Physics is known for providing a rich variety of material systems in which different physics can be found and studied.

Following the very successful SoS meeting of 2016 at the Miramar palace, we plan on hosting the second SoS workshop. The topic is timely and in expansion. We increase the original scope of the workshop to include the very exciting developments in quantum information thanks to the new ability of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) to measure and control quantum spins. Then, the workshop will be devoted to the study of single magnetic moments on solid surfaces, their detection, manipulation, and encoding of quantum information.

The 9th international Conference “New Generation in Strongly Correlated Electrons Systems” (NGSCES 2018), sponsored by the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), will be held at the "Palacio Miramar", Donostia / San Sebastian, on September 3-7, 2018.

In recent years, research into new twodimensional (2D) materials has experienced exceptional growth and relevance given their technological potential. Just a decade after the discovery of the first two-dimensional material, graphene (Nobel Prize 2010), hundreds of 2D materials have already been synthesized with the most diverse properties. This has allowed, for the first time, to glimpse the possibility of engineering artificial materials from 2D materials with atomic precision and with tailored properties.

Este hecho muestra la relevancia del ámbito de actuación al que empresas, universidades, y agentes de investigación deben hacer frente.

La edición del Congreso del 2018 presenta características novedosas en relación con los celebrados los pasados años, que fueron una especie de campo de pruebas para abordar el de esta edición, que coincide con la celebración del 750 Aniversario de la fundación de Ordizia, en cuyo Programa de Actividades está incluido.  En las dos primeras, el acontecimiento enfocaba el Pastoreo de trashumancia o Pastoreo de montaña como único objetivo de exposición y debate.

The Conference GIREP-MPTL 2018 will be focused on physics educational innovations at Primary, Secondary and University levels. Specifically, the symposium provides a forum for exchanging ideas and discussing recent developments in such areas as:
