The workshop will focus on novel phenomena occurring at interfaces between metallic conductors and magnetic insulators as well as in recently-discovered quantum magnetic materials, both offering a rich playground for Quantum Spintronics. The workshop will bring together leading experts, experimentalists and theorists, working at the crossroads between magnon spintronics and quantum magnetism.

Topology and lattice symmetries play a key role in determining matter states and their associated internal order. These so-called topological states of matters are of fundamental interest, since they entail exotic electronic behaviors. The study and prediction of materials with novel topological properties has become a vibrant field of research over the past few years. The 2017 school includes a session explaining practically how to perform a numerical quantum transport calculation of topological systems with KWANT.

The school on PhotoElectroCatalysis at the Atomic Scale (PECAS) is aimed at promoting various opportunities for interdisciplinary discussion of scientists and students of physics, material science, chemistry and electrochemistry in addition to presentation of new results, ideas and methods in the field of photo- and electrochemical properties of novel materials.

The European Conference on Surface Crystallography and Dynamics (ECSCD) is aimed at discussing the recent advances on the characterization of dynamical processes and structure of surfaces, as well as their interplay, at the atomic length scale. The first edition of the conference took place in 1985 in Erlangen (Germany), and it has become a well established meeting point for the surface science community.
